Latest EB meeting

March 31, 2023

At the March meeting of the EB1 cohort – another great session held at Gosforth Park – we welcomed another new member.

Each month, our Experience Bank NED peer groups meet and cover a wide range of topics including the members bringing real-time issues and opportunities they are facing to each session.

The groups, which are made up of existing or aspiring Non-Executive Directors, Trustees, Board Advisors and Consultants to boards, cover a wide range of topics that assist them with their roles, expand their knowledge and thinking, and give them a support network to consult with.

This month, we looked at how we all rate our effectiveness which prompted some honest and valuable self-reflection and refocusing before we moved onto the first question raised by the cohort.

We delved into working from home policies, processing the ongoing challenges. We also processed the issue of disruptive leaders, and the effect of a competent team, as well as how to help external financiers understand a complex business.

The meetings are also the perfect time to look at your own needs, giving you the opportunity to define what you do and don’t want from a role. This meeting saw a number of individuals turn to the group with that very question.

Our cohort could talk for days, but the great thing is we don’t just connect on the day we get together. Any outstanding questions move onto our What’s App conversation, meaning the contact, the support and the camaraderie continues between sessions.

Moving forward our meeting will be held at the Board Room at one of our partners providing us with a brilliant venue at the Cobalt Business Exchange.

Most importantly our group is focused on helping its members to achieve success in their NED, Trustee, advisory and consulting portfolios, and it’s a joy to see how these are developing.
