New Year, New Experiences

January 10, 2023

Here we are at the end of the second week of 2023 and what a year many of us are having so far. We’ve come back with renewed energy, looking forward to a year in which we expect many challenges but also many exciting opportunities.

As part of my growing communications with current clients, potential clients, stakeholders and the wider business company, I welcome you to the first of TEBG’s quarterly newsletters.

In this edition, I am going to round up the highlights of 2022 for the company and myself, reminding us all of how much many of us achieved.

It is nearly three years since TEBG was founded and I am looking forward to our fourth year with excitement and optimism, especially for the parts of the business that I am discovering are extremely scalable.

Our board level recruitment service has been in demand, the NED and Future Leader peer group programmes and board effectiveness consultancy have grown into their own and The Experience Bank’s philanthropic activity has gathered a speed that means many more have benefited.

Recruitment

2022 gave me great pleasure to work with some fabulous companies, bringing talented leaders and board members to join my client’s teams. Some notable and particularly rewarding positions filled were a new MD for Pharos Offshore, and a new CEO and Chair for Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).

Peer Groups

2022 has been an exciting year for The Experience Bank Group’s peer group programmes.

The launch of the Future Leaders cohort for key managers has proved popular and the first group is soon to be joined many more. The impact of this cohort has been amazing with the companies investing in their talent reaping rewards. Many have said that it is helped mitigate challenges and that they feel the next two years will be easier because of it.

The peer groups for NEDs and Trustees has grown in popularity with a community of over people 40 now. We are welcoming new members this month, and were delighted to see some alumni at our Christmas drinks! This has built a fantastic network of decision makers and influencers. A new cohort will be formed to 2023, adding to this amazing group of like minded people.

The Experience Bank Social Enterprise

Experience Bank Group incorporates The Experience Bank philanthropic, social enterprise company along with a commercial venture providing three symbiotic services – EB Board Level Recruitment, EB High Performing Boards and EB Continuous Professional Development.

With this combination of specialist expertise, the Experience Bank Group is uniquely positioned to help organisations ensure they have not only the right skills in the leadership team and boardroom but also optimum board performance with higher value creation.

5% of all revenue from Experience Bank Group is gifted to The Experience Bank social enterprise to enable more start-ups, early-stage businesses, charities and social enterprises access to high quality, advisory and non-executive talent.

Through this service, and through supporting and collaborating with the NatWest Incubator and Durham City Incubator, 65 start up companies have benefited to date in the region. We think that is a great number to celebrate!

Amongst those, a number have appeared in the press including GNRI, Ditollo, Equiwatt, Off G and PlaceChangers. Many thanks to each of you for helping us shout about our philanthropic service!! You can view all of these stories and more by clicking here….

Other News and Closing Words from Peter

The Experience Bank Group has also enjoyed other successes throughout 2022. We have been appointed a partner for the Northern Accelerator supporting regional university company spin outs with board advisory introductions. Thanks to the depth and breadth of the company’s network we can advise between us on everything from raising finance, product development, sales and marketing to accelerator strategy.

Our high performing board service where we look at the effectiveness of your current board and make recommendations, sometimes supplying training, has been popular too, with Andrew Marsh helping a number of companies move to the next level.

We were also recognised at the Dynamo NE Awards at the start of last year, for our support of businesses in the Tech industry. To be shortlisted so early in our journey was really encouraging and we had a great night at the awards!

It has been so enjoyable being back face to face with people and enjoying normal holidays – the pandemic seems like another lifetime now. I’m looking forward to keeping that momentum going throughout 2023 and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their contributions.

To the 266 members of the Experience Bank, to colleagues, to partners like Antonia at Get Brindled, Creo Communications and The Big Picture and to all my clients (loyal existing and new) – thank you! Let’s crack on with 2023 and make it count as well.
