Spring News

April 26, 2023

Here we are with Easter behind us and Summer on the way. It’s been a busy first few month’s of the year!

As part of my growing communications with current clients, potential clients, stakeholders and the wider business company, this is the second of TEBG’s quarterly newsletters.

In this edition, I am going to round up the highlights so far including updates on our board level recruitment service, the NED and Future Leader peer group programmes, our board effectiveness consultancy and The Experience Bank’s philanthropic activity.

Recruitment

So far this year, it has been an exciting start with some real high profile roles to match the perfect leaders to.

I am especially pleased to have assembled a shortlist for a new trustee for the Great North Air Ambulance Service. The interviews will be held shortly at Progress House, with the nominated committee, which will also include tours of the facility.

A new Managing Director is due in place at a long established and highly respected owner-managed manufacturing on Tyneside, as we go through final stages of the selection process. We look forward to seeing which of our high level individuals is successful.

We have also taken a brief to guide a privately-owned childcare and education business with the establishment of a new governance structure, which will involved the recruitment of two NEDs.

And we are also privileged to have been engaged by Sage Gateshead to support the appointment of two NEDs to their trading company, Music North Ltd. Music North Ltd runs one of the most renowned conference and events businesses in the region, providing a first class customer experience through catering and retail, so this is a great opportunity for those with the right experience.

Leadership Development

This peer group has gone from strength to strength, with new members joining, hard hitting questions debated and answered, skills learnt and its own fair share of media and social media coverage for the positive impact it is having.

Facilitated by Andrew Marsh, the group has a new place to meet from this month, in the CBX Business Centre boardroom at the Cobalt. This is an exciting opportunity to increase our numbers and we are offering the chance to attend taster sessions with existing members. To do so, please click the link below and send me your details!

Future Leaders Peer Group

Having partnered with our friends at Jackson Hogg we are really excited to see the new launch of the Future Leaders Peer Group programme.

This unique leadership development journey combines coaching and peer mentoring in real-time, context-relevant scenarios, and we have been taken aback by the interest from organisations across the region and beyond.

There is clearly a demand being driven by organisations seeking the best way to protect, develop and maintain their managers.

The Experience Bank Social Enterprise

Through our philanthropic activity, in the last few weeks we have issued callouts on behalf of four start ups, to our Experience Bank network which resulted in many offers of support, and we are now busy assembling advisory boards for each of them.

As usual, the start-up founders benefitting from our support are all amazed at the quality and enthusiasm of our board advisors all willing to help them on their commercialisation journey.

Once again thanks to everyone for their support and commitment for this entirely philanthropic but hugely impactful initiative.

Personally, I can’t believe we have been doing this for eight years now and have helped over 70 start ups to establish commercially sustainable and growing businesses!

Experience Bank Group incorporates The Experience Bank philanthropic, social enterprise company along with a commercial venture providing three symbiotic services – EB Board Level Recruitment, EB High Performing Boards and EB Continuous Professional Development.

With this combination of specialist expertise, the Experience Bank Group is uniquely positioned to help organisations ensure they have not only the right skills in the leadership team and boardroom but also optimum board performance with higher value creation.

5% of all revenue from Experience Bank Group is gifted to The Experience Bank social enterprise to enable more start-ups, early-stage businesses, charities and social enterprises access to high quality, advisory and non-executive talent.

Through this service, and by supporting and collaborating with the NatWest Incubator and Durham City Incubator, we intend to long continue the support we give and help cement many more start ups!
